ELDER DR. SAMUEL QUANSAH

My father was the Head Master of a Methodist School in Ghana. Hence, I grew up in Ghana going to the Methodist church, but not as a true Christian. I knew God existed and Jesus died on the cross for our sins, but I didn’t have any true personal relationship with Him. I believe God knew me before I was born, because I was one of a few Ghanaian students selected to study medicine in Russia in 1961. In 1962-63, I had to attend atheism classes in Leningrad. It was one of our pre-med classes. I remember arguing for almost an hour with our professor that God exists. He said their cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin, the first man ever to go into space did not see God in space. I completed my medical school in 1968 and went to England for a year studying all the English medical language. By God’s grace, I arrived in Canada in 1969 to do my rotating internship in Saskatoon, then my first year Paediatric Residency program at the Saskatoon University Hospital. I completed the residency at Dalhousie University in Halifax four years later. I arrived in Montreal in 1975 as a Fellow in Paediatric Pulmonology at the Montreal Children’s Hospital (McGill University).

From 1976, I started working at the Emergency Department and in 1977 started my private practice. All this time, I was unmarried but started to pray to the God I knew existed but had no real relationship with Him. I had prayed to this God during my Pediatric certification exam and He had helped me pass this exam to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Canada, and again to become a Fellow of the American Academy of Paediatrics. I prayed to this God to give me a wife that knew Him. This is when this kind God listened to my prayers and gave me my present wife, of 40 years, Carol-Ann. She was the one who invited me to the Apostolic Church in 1979, when we became friends. Pastor and Mrs. David Morris then invited me to their house and explained to me what real salvation and personal relationship with God meant. I became a changed, born-again Christian on February 13/80. I was baptized in water April 27/80, took the right hand of fellowship May 4/80. Carol and I were married on July 26/80. I was baptized in the Spirit on June 18/89. My relationship with the triune God has been awesome. My wife and I cannot make any decision without consulting Him. We cannot praise and worship Him enough. We are so grateful for His blessings, especially the four children He gave us and now the four grandchildren, so far. We want Him to control our lives and we want to be used as vessels in His Hands . Being on the Board of Directors has been one of the ways to serve The Almighty and help in the building of His Church.
